My interest in photography began at a young age. I remember my Grandpa Frank would always have two things close at hand, one a pair of binoculars, the other an old school 35mm camera. My Grandpa loved to travel around Oregon, be it a weekend trip to our family’s beach house on the Coast, fishing trip or a drive around Mount Hood, with stops along the way to enjoy the beauty of the Mountain or to watch rafters floating down one of many rivers in the state. During high school I took photography classes but did not feel the true calling until I was in my mid-twenties.
I am a native Oregonian born and raised in a small town 15 miles south of Portland. I love taking pictures within the state; my ultimate favorite is to travel west on Highway 26, stopping at the lakes along the way and to capture the magnificent Mt Hood, which has the highest peak in Oregon. Other favorite trips include traveling from the Northern Oregon Coast south on Highway 101 to the California Nevada border or to head west on Highway 84, stopping to view Multnomah Falls and further east as far as the Snake river along the Idaho border. There is not a region of the state that does not include places worth seeing. Local places include Portland’s Rocky Butte, Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the Oregon Zoo, Japanese Garden and of course the Portland Rose Gardens.
